Again this year, the Colchester-Milton Rotary Club is assembling baskets of food, books and other small gift items for the less fortunate in our community during this holiday season.

Every year in Colchester there is an unmet need for food and other essential items. For almost 40 years, there has been a Holiday Gift Basket Project to help meet the needs of our community. The baskets will be assembled on Saturday 12/8 and will be delivered on Saturday 12/15. This year the need is greater than it has ever been and we are sending 148 baskets to 130 families. These families represent 527 people. It costs about $41 to fill each of these baskets and we add lots of donated items like books, hats, scarves and mittens.

We are always in need of volunteers to help out, but in this tough economy, we would really appreciate any financial support you can give. Please consider sponsoring us in our efforts by donating as follows:

$12 Feeds one person
$41 Buys one gift basket
$46 Supports one family
$92 Supports two families
$100 General Support
$250 Colchester Partner
$500 Colchester Steward
$1000 Colchester Benefactor

Donations can be made securely online at http://bit.ly/CMRCBaskets or by mailing a check to PO Box 82, Colchester, VT 05446. Checks should be payable to "Charitable Fund of the CMRC" and are fully tax deductible.

All families served fit within strict income guidelines and are extremely appreciative of the baskets they receive. Please join us by showing your strong support of this important activity.

Please contact the committee chair  Kirk Shamberger with any questions.
