The increase in food insecurity was strongly correlated with employment status. Among survey respondents overall, 45% had lost their jobs, been furloughed or had their hours reduced during the pandemic. Among food-insecure Vermonters, two-thirds (66%) had experienced job losses or work disruptions since the outbreak of the pandemic." See the full post here.
In keeping with the current 'Stay Home Stay Safe' initiative we will be hosting an online "Fill The Truck For The Food Shelf" this year for the Colchester, Milton and Champlain Islands food shelves. From now until the end of May, we are asking only for monetary donations, 100% of which will go directly to the food shelves.
Our goal for the monthly fundraiser is $5,000.00 which breaks down to $1,000.00 a week or $142.86 a day. Any and all monetary donations will be accepted whether it’s $1.00, $100.00, $1,000.00 or anywhere in between. Every dollar will help feed a hungry neighbor.
Please consider donating any amount you may be comfortable with. We have attempted to make it as easy as possible to donate online with the link below or you can send a check (see address below).
Thank you in advance for helping to reduce food insecurity and feeding a family in need.
